Morocco Anoual Blocks
Sound Energy is looking for a partner to develop the Anoual blocks. Two main gas prone plays have been identified within the block, the Triassic TAGI and underlying Palaeozoic formations. The reservoir targets are sealed by regional salt formation. Sound Energy holds 47.5% working interest in the blocks.
In July 2017 Sound Energy entered into a new Petroleum Agreement for what was known as the Meridja reconnaissance area. This new permit, named Annual, became effective in August the same year and the acreage covered by this new Petroleum Agreement permit, spans some 8,853 square kilometres and has been named Anoual. The Company holds an operated 47.5% position, of which 27.5% held by Schlumberger. ONHYM holds the remaining 25% interest in the licence area.
In Anoual, two main gas prone plays have been identified beneath the regional salt seal: the Triassic TAGI and underlying Paleozoic formations, both of which are extensions of the prolific oil and gas plays established across the border in Algeria.
In July 2020 Sound Energy announced a renegotiation of the permit terms amending the work programme having already completed the commitment to acquire FTG aerogradiometry and 600 kilometres of 2D seismic by end 2018.
